Assignment Two: World Place Names (PDF Version: Assignment Two place names.pdf)
You can turn this assignment in anytime during the first two weeks of the semester because it is worth more than any of the other assignments in this class. A major goal of many of you is to learn where things and places are, this assignment will force you to do that. You will play online place name games (as many times as you want) and report your score (via screenshot file submission on Canvas) to me.
You will be tested on both the countries of the world and some physical features. Your right/wrong answers and time will be used by the website to calculate your percentage. You will be given a grade by me on a curve with the top 33% of scores in this class receiving an “Aâ€, the next 33% a “B†and the last 33% a “C.†Follow both steps 2a and 2b to complete the two map quizzes for this assignment. On the COUNTRIES quiz you must score at least a 75% in under 5 min TO RECEIVE ANY CREDIT and you must complete the physical features in under 4min to receive a grade for this assignment.
Steps:
- Study the (a) countries and (b) physical features of the world and memorize them so you can recognize them quickly (do this by writing them out, completing a coloring book, taking online practice quizzes, or whatever).
2a. Click on this link (Links to an external site.) to go to the countries quiz and then proceed to step 3.
2b. Click on this link (Links to an external site.) to take the physical geography map quiz and then proceed to step (scroll down the page to see a list of the features you will be tested on) ****NOTE: IF this link is not working, skip this part of the assignment****
- Take the map quiz as many times as you want! Get the best score you can and then take a screenshot (Links to an external site.), save it as a file and submit it to me through Canvas (see screenshot examples below) (remember the top 33% of scores receive an “Aâ€, the next 33% a “Bâ€, the next 33% a “C†and anything below a 75% will not be scored).
*This assignment can be turned in anytime in the first two weeks of the semester (i.e. it must be turned in before 11:59 pm on the Sunday starting the third week)
