writing a memo to the dean
You are to write a memo to the Dean.
Your Instructor recently stated that the Business Department at the College is leaning toward increasing the number of communication courses to be offered. This is based on feedback from the local business community and recent school alumni. Before a decision is made, the Dean of the Business Department wants to hear from current students. Prepare a short memo to the Dean describing your belief that additional Business Communications courses are needed or not required at this time. Be sure to support whichever stand you take with good rationale.
Specific information regarding the format and layout of business documents is included in the textbook. This memo should be approximately one page in length.
The following is an example of what your memo should include:
To: Dave Corba, Dean of Business Administration and Culinary Arts
From: (Your name goes here)
Subject: Business Communications Courses
Date: (Use current date)
This paragraph should introduce the subject matter of your memo.
This paragraph should discuss the reasons that additional Business Communications courses are needed or not required at this time. Be specific and explain your position on this subject.
The closing paragraph should reiterate your position. Be sure to end on a positive note and provide your contact information.
The memo will be evaluated based on clarity, precision, brevity, and logical presentation of the material.
