<>Instructions: 3.1 A Comparison of the roles and utility of International Organizations (IO) under the two mainstream global perspectives of Realism and Liberalism.
Each global perspective sees the role and utility of IOs differently because of their underlying assumptions about global politics.
1: Compare and contrast these views of the roles and utility of IOs under each of the two mainstream global perspectives, Realism (or Nationalism) and Liberalism. Identify their similarities and differences. In your opinion, does this comparison possibly explain why some nations see greater value in engaging in global politics through IOs like the UN, while other nations see no value in engaging? Cite some examples of nation states that actively participate in UN activities and some that do not.
2: Which view more closely matches your personal view of the role, utility and value of IOs in global politics? Which IO’s do you think are most effective?
