Promotional blogging media assignment

Description of Assignment: Public relations practitioners can sidestep mainstream media outlets and speak directly to the public through a blog and social media marketing.

  1. Choose an organization, either profit or nonprofit, or blog that reflects one you would want to write in your career and examine how they humanize their organization or selves and drive traffic to their site. (Requirement for your choice to evaluate: they must also have a Twitter)
  2. Think about keywords, SEO, ads, subscriptions, visuals, hyperlinks, etc. that drive traffic along with the content.
  3. Then, examine their tweets: How does this media professional use tweets to draw in readers?
  4. Are their tweets tied to other forms of media? Be detailed.
  5. Write a summary and provide specific examples of tweets and your research and include in an appendix.
    1. Explain through research (book and outside research), why their strategy works, doesn’t work, and/or improvements that could be made to make it even better.
    2. Requirement: at least 5 paragraphs and a minimum of 500 words along with appendix with examples. Must be a Word doc or docx
    3. Requirement: (not optional) Must meet with Writing Center tutor at least once with rough draft ready to work on with tutor. Will receive extra credit if go to writing center more than once with help with brainstorming, researching, or a second rough draft.
