The next step in creating your Healthcare Security and Privacy Plan is to adopt a risk framework so that you can develop a plan for risk management. This plan includes how to find risks, track them, and communicate them. It explains how to determine which risks can or should be mitigated and which risks are tolerable. For the Unit 3 assignment, choosing a risk framework will provide you with experience building a Risk Management Plan, a key responsibility of a healthcare information assurance and security professional.

Assignment Instructions

Develop a Risk Management Plan for your Healthcare Security and Privacy Plan. Use the IAS5320 Plan and Policy Templates located in the Resources section as appropriate for the items you develop.

Use the following steps to guide your assignment preparation:

  • Choose a risk framework for your organization and explain why it is the appropriate choice.
  • Analyze samples of risk documentation.
  • Develop a Risk Management document that describes the process for communicating risks to stakeholders.
  • Include a policy on physical security controls for your organization (example: building access controls, data center controls, et cetera).

  • Length: 3–5 double-spaced (depending on the length of processes you include), typed pages, not including title and reference pages.
