Learning the terms, acronyms, and technologies of your business is imperative when trying to understand how technology can help your business. In this discussion, we will examine these technologies, terms, and organizational strategies.

The role of the business analyst or systems analyst is to help develop the systems that will solve problems using the business needs or requirements gathered from employees at various levels. As an informed user, you should understand the value that these systems bring to an organization, including staying up-to-date on the latest technologies, and making informed decisions on new and improved technologies so management and the business/systems analysts can understand business needs/requirements.

2. Pedro Otero: The role of technology in business is monumental. Technology is one of those aspects of a business that are unavoidable, we all have to rely on it if we are going to keep up with everyone else in their respective industry. It allows for users to work more quickly and more efficient, it saves a lot of physical space (no need to host large physical servers, less paper, laptops are more powerful these days), running analytics and reporting is more accurate and much more quick with technology, and a host of other benefits. The role of technology is to ensure that processes are being streamlined in order to keep up with the pace of the eCommerce business.

Cloud computing is important technology that is used in business. Businesses were able to grow exponentially because of the power of cloud computing. Especially when it comes to software development, and product management, having virtual systems and servers hosted online rather than having to maintain and host huge physical servers on-premise saves so much time, effort, and money for businesses. An example of this is using Amazon Web Services to host backend modules for an application. Paying another company to host an application saves a business from doing a lot of manual maintenance and support, and ensures a level of safety and security that they might not receive otherwise.
