In 2002 Bayliner, the United States’ largest manufacturer of small boats, built its first production facility in Mexico. In 2012, Bayliner announced it would move all its remaining production facilities from Tennessee and Washington State to Mexico as part of a new strategy. The strategy was to lower the supply chain and manufacturing costs and pass those costs along to consumers to reinvigorate sagging sales. Here are a few business/trade journal articles discussing the strategy and the reasons for the move. we examined the globalization effects on supply chains and how supply chains adjusted to meet these challenges. In your opinion, was Bayliner’s move to Mexico the right strategy for the company? Why or why not?
