Children’s Books and Resources

This week, we have been learning about high-quality books, songs, poems, and other literary devices. In this assignment, you will look at various sources that you could include in the lesson plan you started last week. You will choose one book to incorporate in your lesson and provide information on three additional sources that you might be able to use in the lesson.
To prepare for this assignment,
- Download the Children’s Books and Resources Assignment Template.
- Read Teaching Language Arts/English with Children’s Books (Links to an external site.).
- Watch Pre-Reading Activities (Links to an external site.).
- Identify the book you will use for your lesson plan.
- Identify three additional sources that you might choose to incorporate in your lesson plan.
In your paper
- Use the Children’s Books and Resources Assignment Template.
- Identify the goal, objective, and standard that you wrote in Week 1. Be sure to revise these using the instructor feedback you received.
- Analyze how the book you identified fits the objective, the age of students, and the lesson plan.
- Analyze how the three additional sources that you identified and might incorporate fit the objective, the age of students, and the lesson plan.
The Children’s Books and Resources paper
- Must be two to three pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA Style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center’s APA Style (Links to an external site.)
- Must include a separate title page with the following:
- Title of paper
- Student’s name
- Course name and number
- Instructor’s name
- Date submitted

- Must document any information used from sources in APA Style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center’s APA: Citing Within Your Paper (Links to an external site.)
