For this first summary assignment, your task is to compose a summary of the Chapter 1 Discussion Case – “Insuring Uber’s App-On Gap”. This summary should be between 75-120 words in length (approximately 10%-15% of the original text), and must be written in basic APA format. This assignment is due before midnight September 14th.

Some summary writing tips:

  1. Remember, the purpose of a summary is not storytelling. Your job is to report. This means your focus should be on telling the reader what is in the Discussion Case, rather than telling the story of Uber.
  2. Use present tense reporting verbs and transitions. There is a reporting verb worksheet in the Course Content section of our Blackboard page
  3. You need to include an APA reference entry at the end of your summary. Learn more about writing a reference entry here.
  4. You are expected and required to do your own work. It is a violation of the Honor Code to copy another student’s work and present it as your own.
  5. Your summary should be at least 75 words, and not more than 120 words, in length.

  1. Font: Times New Roman
  2. Font Size: 12
  3. Paper Size: Letter (8.5″ x 11″) – do not use A4.
  4. Spacing: Double
