There are four parts to this assignment, with some parts relying on research. As usual, ask your professor early in the unit for assistance if needed. Follow all formatting requirements, as this assignment must be submitted in a business-like Word document (template) with APA formatting and citation/referencing.

Password Rules

  • In this section, provide a bulleted list of password requirements that you feel are appropriate. There must be at least five specific requirements. Check the Reading PDF before creating your rules.
  • Under the list, write a paragraph that explains your reasons for your rules.
  • Researching ideas on the internet is recommended , but the list must be your own set of rules and in your own words.
  • Write 150-180 words (list and paragraph combined).
  • SSL Certificates
    • In this section, explain how SSL certificates work.
    • Use at least one appropriate source and cite it properly using APA methods.
    • Present this information in paragraph form and write 180-210 words.

    Physical Security

    • In this section, choose any two of these physical security measures for the IT workplace and research how they can help keep data safe. Include pros and cons for each, plus potential relative costs.
      • Surveillance cameras
      • Heat sensors
      • Smoke detectors
      • Locking the servers in a room
      • Access control cards
      • Fencing around the building ( s)
      • Motion detectors
      • Security lighting
      • Alarm systems
      • Temperature and humidity control
      • Hiring guards
    • Use at least one appropriate source and cite it properly using APA methods.
    • Present this information in paragraph form (one paragraph per security measure) and write 200-230 words (the two paragraphs combined).

    Cybersecurity Issues

    • In this section, choose any three of the issues listed below and explain them:
      • Brute-Force attack
      • Cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks
      • Denial-of-Service (DoS)
      • Drive-by Attack
      • Man-in-the-Middle Attacks
      • Phishing and spear phishing
      • SQL Injection Attack
      • Worms
    • Use at least one appropriate source and cite it properly using APA methods.
    • Present this information in paragraph form (one paragraph per security issue) and write 250-280 words (the three paragraphs combined).

    Additional Parameters

    • Labeling:
      • Include a descriptive paper title (not “Unit 6 Assignment”).
      • Provide a descriptive first-level subheading for each of the four sections. Do not include additional subheadings.
    • Writing:
      • Write formally and without first person narrative.
      • Do not quote from sources; write in your own words and cite sources of the ideas.
      • It is not necessary write an introduction or conclusion; these will not earn points.
    • Formatting:
      • Use a business-like template. It must be a Word document in portrait orientation, 8.5×11 ” in size, with a cover page with the content starting on page 2. Paragraphs must be single-spaced without first-line indentation and a blank line must be placed between paragraphs for readability. Ask your professor for links to suitable templates.
    • Referencing:
      • Use APA in-text citation in the body of the paper where appropriate. Remember that every paragraph in which information came from a source must have citation .
      • Provide a reference section with full APA-standard reference entries for all sources. Check the Unit 1 Reading for assistance with reference entry formats.
