For your Session Long Project, you will conduct an in-depth analysis of a health promotion program/intervention for a specific population from a public health perspective.

SLP Assignment

1. Choose a public health topic for a specific population group and/or age group. It can be a specific disease or condition such as heart disease or cancer; an infectious disease such as AIDS, TB, etc.; diabetes or a health aspect such as maternal and child health, oral health, or mental health; a behavior such as smoking or inactivity; or a disease risk factor like obesity or hypertension.
2. Provide a brief description of the topic. Discuss the magnitude of the problem (e.g., trends in incidence/prevalence, policies, etc.) and its public health significance.
3. Next,  discuss the social determinants of the health problem for the specific group you selected.

Your assignment will not be graded until you have submitted an Originality Report with a Similarity Index (SI) score <15% (excluding direct quotes, quoted assignment instructions, and references). Papers not meeting this requirement by the end of the session will receive a score of 0 (grade of F). Do keep in mind that papers with a lower SI score may be returned for revisions. For example, if one paragraph accounting for only 10% of a paper is cut and pasted, the paper could be returned for revision, despite the low SI score.   Please use the report and your SI score as a guide to improve the originality of your work.
